With the pRO relaunch set on the episode 2, hardcore grinding is the only way to level-up. Thief class has a very good advantage on early stages because of their high dodge rate. This guide will give you basic information on how and where to grind your thief.
This character is made in the Ragnarok Thai Server under the Revo Classic rate.
Health Recovery: Red Potion vs Meat?
Red Potion
Purchase: 50z
Heal: 45 - 60 Hp (vitality modification not applied)
Weight: 7
Meat
Purchase: 50z
Heal: 70 - 100 Hp (vitality modification not applied)
Weight: 15
Since you won't be carrying so much stuff and with your 20 strength carrying the meat won't be a problem. It it has a better heal rate than the red potion on a similar prize.
Equipment:
Thief just needs a weapon, everything else is optional during this stage. As you can see I am using a gladius but a +7 stiletto will have a better damage.
Stats and Skills:
Started with: 9 STR, 9 DEX and 9 AGI
as you progress... Get agility up to 20 then slowly pump your dexterity and strength to 20 once you get both to 20, just pump agility to 50.
For your skills get improve dodge to 10 then double attack to 10. Pumping dodge 1st will save you zennies because you use less potions during grinding.
Lvl 25 - 30
Culverts 2
Just grind in the Prontera Culverts until level 25, low monster hp and you will be able to dodge their attacks easily.
Payon Cave:
If you have a good party, Payon cave would be a good place to grind.
Poring Land:
If you are need a change of scenery Poring Land would be good place to go, poporing are easy kill, just watch out for Ghostring and Angeling
Lvl 31 - 35
Byalan or Bibiland Dungeon 1
Location: Go to Izlude then go to the port area, then select the "Byalan Island" you will be teleported to an island where in an underground cave entrance will be there. Go in and start killing.
Monsters: Hydra, Vadon, Plankton and Kukre (easy to kill, easy to dodge and decent drops)
Do not Hit: Marina and Thara Frogs (high hit rate, hard to dodge at this stage)
Culverts 3
Descend to the level 3 culverts dungeon and kill the Male Thief Bugs, just be careful not to get mobbed.
Lvl 36 - 40
Elder Willows and Smokies
Location: Right of Payon Town
Monsters: Elder Willows and Smokies, have very low HP and are easy to dodge. Prioritize killing the elder willows so that they wont be able to cast firebolt on your. Avoid bigfoot for now, since you will only damage them for 50%, so it would be a waste of time and effort to kill them.
Notable Loots:
- Elder Willow: Trunks for Sakkat, Dead Branch (can be sold to players), Elder Willow Card (+2 int on headgears)
- Smokie: Racoon Leaf (for headgear ingredients), Kitty Band (headgear, use as ingredients for other headgears)
Byalan or Bibiland Dungeon 1 and 2
Monsters: You can now kill all monsters on this map. Since most of the monsters here are "Small Sized" your daggers will be able to do a 100% damage on them.
Notable Loots:
- Vadon: Padded Armor [1], Vadon Card (+20% Damage to Fire Property Monsters)
- Hydra: Hydra Card ( +20% Damage to Demi Human)
- Thara: Thara Frog Card (Reduce Damage from Demi Human by 30%), Emveretarcon (use for upgrading level 2 weapons)
The Experiment
A solo leveling experiment in the elder willow map. Using my gladius equipped thief I was able to level from 39 - 40 in less than 30 minutes.
I only killed the elder willows, smokies and poporings on the map.
Thief class has a very good advantage on early stages of the game, with their high dodge rate and double attacks they can easily level up solo or in a party set-up.
